Energy company signs $4M deal to boost clean energy in Nigeria

Irohinodua was informed that two Nigerian companies, Jendol Superstores and Juddy-Bolema Industries Limited, signed the multimillion $4 on October 21, 2025.
The partnership, which was announced at the Nordic Nigeria Connect event in Lagos, aims to promote the adoption of clean energy in Nigeria’s retail and manufacturing sectors.
The two projects, will involve the deployment of rooftop solar PV and battery storage systems across five Jendol Superstores’ branches and Juddy-Bolema Industries’ manufacturing facilities.
The projects will meet over half of Jendol Superstores’ energy needs and reduce Juddy-Bolema Industries’ reliance on diesel generators.
The solar projects will have a total size of about 4 MWp and 3.5 MWh battery storage, and are expected to save approximately 3,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually. Empower New Energy will take full responsibility for financing, constructing, and maintaining the solar systems under a Power Support Agreement (PSA) that spans 10 years.
According to Terje Osmundsen, CEO of Empower New Energy, “We are delighted to expand our solar partnerships in Nigeria to Jendol and Juddy Bolema. These two new contracts are Empower’s 10th and 11th investments in Nigeria, bringing the company’s total value of investments in Nigeria to more than $30 million.”
Mark Akhaube, CEO of Jendol Nigeria Limited, said, “With this initiative, Jendol Superstores is taking an important step towards a cleaner and greener future. The solar partnership with Empower New Energy and Paras allows us to reduce costs and CO2 emissions at the same time.”

The CEO of Juddy-Bolema Industries also expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating that it would enable the company to reduce its environmental footprint and be a first mover in the plastic industry.
With these new partnerships, Empower New Energy continues to drive the adoption of clean energy solutions in Nigeria, promoting sustainable development and reducing the country’s reliance on fossil fuels.
