Kenyan President William Ruto has jokingly raised concerns about the growing trend of Nigerian men marrying Kenyan women, saying they seem to be “winning” the hearts of Kenyan ladies at an impressive rate.
The Kenyan leader described it as “Romantic Invasion.”
Ruto made the humorous remark while speaking at a wedding ceremony, where he revealed that two of his daughters are married to Nigerian men.
“My daughter is married to a Nigerian, and this one too is married to a Nigerian,” Ruto said, playfully teasing Kenyan men.
“And our guys are just standing around—I don’t know, are you slow or what? At this rate, we’re heading for a brain drain in Kenya!”
The audience burst into laughter at the President’s witty remark.
Despite the lighthearted tone, Ruto highlighted the strengthening bonds between Kenya and Nigeria, saying, “I think there’s something special between Kenya and Nigeria. We should build on it.”
He emphasized that these marriages reflect the strong people-to-people connections between the two countries.
