Massive crowd join Igboho to launch Iru Ekun in Ogun State

Thousands of youths and the middle aged have joined Yoruba Nation activist, Mr Sunday Igboho to launch Iru Ekun in Ogun State.

Irohinoodua was informed that thousands of locals trooped out to welcome the activist many of them with self procured Iru-Ekun uniforms

Speaking to the gathering, Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Igboho, outlined how the new outfit will be organized, trained, and run in partnership with state authorities.

He placed strong emphasis on conduct, warning recruits that accountability would define the group.

“You must have discipline. Do not engage in reckless behaviour or ruin things just because they have trained you and you have ID card,” Igboho told the volunteers.

According to him, the Ogun State government has pledged support for the initiative and will work out financial backing for participants.

“The Governor has also given us assurance. They have given us support here, and they will decide what monthly allowance to provide to us, to support us, because we have wives, and we have children,” he said.

Igboho explained that a key goal is to ensure volunteers across the South-West are issued official ID cards so they can operate within legal frameworks while also earning to support their households.

He likened the project’s potential trajectory to that of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, noting how small community efforts can evolve into formal structures.

“This organisation we established, if we execute it properly, just like Civil Defence. They started at the market. We used to call them ‘Little Defence,’ but they did good work with what they were doing. The federal government have now fully established it across all of Nigeria,” he said.

He added that with proper management and government backing, the Ogun chapter could grow into a recognized security structure working alongside existing agencies.
