Peter Obi’s treachery and why he won’t be President of Nigeria

By Nwankwo T. Nwaezeigwe, PhD
Let me begin by reminding my Igbo kinsmen from the Southeast who are obsessed with Peter Obi and his spineless Obidient Movement woven in chameleonic integrity, that it will no longer be business as usual. No longer business as usual in the sense that that bigoted ethnic construct that because we are Igbo we must support anything Igbo whether good or evil will no longer stand. The idea of branding anyone that criticizes any Igbo leader as anti-Igbo or Igbo-hater is a stupendous stupidity that only defines those born to remain perpetual slaves unto themselves.
Let me reemphasize that no degree of Peter Obi’s political ambition will drag the Christians of Nigeria back to Fulani Egypt. This is because the dramatic emergence of Obidient Movement in 2022 was strongly predicated on the collective desire of Nigerian Christians to move away permanently from the cacophony of Fulani jihad inspired Political domination.
That was all that mattered at that point and, not about whatever integrity people attempted to drum up for Peter Obi. For Peter Obi to therefore think that he has become a cult-political hero who can willingly drag the people back to this same degenerate Fulani bondage under the canopy of his inordinate ambition for President is untenable.
A popular saying among my Ibusa people states, “Afu ekwu na-egbu okei, ekwu anu na-egbu nwata” (What kills an elder is when he sees and fails to speak out; while refusing to listen is what kills the young). God knows that I am in this battle not for my selfish ends or for any defined political ambition. I am in this battle because that is the only reason God allows me to be alive today.
My major concern with the current political situation in Nigeria is not about who becomes the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2027. I do not also wish that somebody like Peter Obi should become the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria either in 2027 or in the near future. Indeed, any genuine Nigerian Christian whether Igbo or non-Igbo who wishes that the present Federal Government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should exist up to 2027 is only partying in a fools’ paradise.
I am an Igbo but from Delta State. Even though what concerns the Igbo as an ethnic group concerns me; not every action undertaken either by an Igbo or in the name of the Igbo will be acceptable to me. Any group of people who lack precise sense of historical consciousness will always fall into the pits of misfortune.
This is the case of the Igbo, especially those inhabiting the present geopolitical zone called the Southeast. I state this with profound sense of patriotism as an active Igbo activist who has risked and continues to risk his life for collective Igbo interest.
My fundamental concern and for which reason I am in exile today is the on-going heinous jihad by the Fulani against the Christians of Nigeria. Our people have been slaughtered with reckless abandon and kidnapped with impunity both north, south, west, east and central. Many people have been slaughtered with impunity, survivals displaced from their ancestral homes which are currently occupied by the same Fulani, and both the Federal and State Governments claim they are powerless to deal with the situation.
The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) seems not be bothered with the intolerable height of this deliberate extermination of those they claim to lead in the name of Christ. All the CAN leadership is expert in is attending the mass burials of these unfortunate innocent Christians slaughtered by Fulani jihadists to present their blood-stained sermons and satanic inspired prayers.
The Christians in political leadership at both the Federal and State levels are living like slaves guiding their fellow slaves to the sacrificial slaughter slab. In the same fashion, the masses of those who claim to profess Christianity are ashamedly hypnotized to the point of standing like the proverbial tree that cannot resist his cutter.
Is it not absurd that these Fulani jihadists miscalled herdsmen are busy rampaging the entire Igboland on daily basis, kidnapping and killing defenseless and innocent people in their homes and people with logical sense of reasoning think that 2027 is the answer? Are such protagonists of 2027 sure that they would not be the next victims of these Fulani jihadists before the arrival of their 2027? So far there neither a time-table nor register of the next victims of these Fulani bandits and herdsmen; hence one does know if he or his relatives would be the next victims.
The fundamental question is what has stopped Peter Obi from standing up to protest the on-going killings and kidnappings against Christians in Igboland, South-South, Southwest and, Middle Belt if indeed he is a leader with integrity and conscience beyond pleasing the same Fulani murderers, he erroneously believe will hand over the Nigerian Presidency to him? Is Peter Obi by feigning ignorance of the on-going slaughter of Christians in Nigeria not declaring himself an accomplice to the crime?
A bunch of jihadists were killed in Uromi in Edo State by the people in self-defense and both Atiku Abubakar and Nasir el-Rufai his current co-political travellers, were threatening hell brimstones against the people. These were armed criminals miscalled hunters without clearly defined hunting grounds. Hundreds of people continued to be slaughtered by the same Fulani in Enugu and Ebonyi States and Peter Obi appears not to be aware, because to him speaking out against the killing of his people by the Fulani will jeopardize his inordinate political ambition.
The Christian Middle Belt voted massively for Peter Obi in the last 2023 Presidential election because they believed him to be a man of integrity with a strong vision of Christian liberation from the on-going Fulani jihad against them. But the question is will the same Middle Belt vote for Peter Obi again in future Presidential election? The clear answer is no.
The Christian Middle Belt who are facing existential threat from the Fulani will not relate with Peter Obi who dines and wines with two Fulani sponsors of Boko Haram and Banditry in Nigeria—Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Mallam Nasir el-Eufai. The people of Southern Kaduna who for the eight years of el-Rufai’s Governorship rule suffered untold slaughter of their defenseless kinsmen by Fulani bandits openly sponsored by el-Rufai will have nothing to do with a Peter Obi who thinks the like of the murderous el-Rufai is his ticket to become the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The people of Plateau, Benue and Taraba States continue to face existential threats in droves in the hands of these Muslim Fulani jihadists and Peter Obi does not seem to be concerned. What concerns him most is a blood-thirsty alliance with these same Fulani murderers for his selfish political end. Does that define a man with political integrity?
Is Peter Obi by not coming out as a devout Catholic Christian who invests in visiting Vatican City anytime the Pope dies or is inaugurated, to say enough is enough to the on-going kidnappings for ransom and massacre of defenseless innocent Christians, not a clear revelation of his status of Fulani saboteur against the Christians in Nigeria today?
Slavish Obidient defenders of Peter Obi will tell Nigerians that the killing and kidnapping of Christians are not Peter Obi’s primary concern, but to become the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Peter Obi needs majorly the votes of the same Christian. Does it not matter to Peter Obi that a single Christian slaughtered by these Fulani bandits stands for a single Christian vote lost? Integrity begins with somebody placing the problems of other people above his personal interest.
In November 2022, Peter Obi commissioned an Almajiri School he reconstructed with his money at Shinkafi town, Katsina Local Government Area of Katsina State. But that did not convince the people to vote for him during the 2023 Presidential election. He lost his deposit in Katsina State.
In October 2024, Peter Obi donated additional five million Naira to Kawo Almajiri School in Kaduna State. This donation came less than four months after the same Peter Obi had donated the sum of ten million naira to the same Almajiri School. This is the same Islamic institution that breeds future kidnappers, insurgents, bandits and murderous Fulani herdsmen. Is that not a clear investment in jihad against Christians in Nigeria?
What this means is that within four months Peter Obi has donated the sum of fifteen million naira towards the training of those who kidnap and murder Christians, as well displace them from their ancestral homes. Again the fundamental question before Peter Obi is how many Muslims both West and North, campaigning for Presidency have donated any amount of money to Churches and their Sunday Schools or Seminaries?
Meanwhile when Peter Obi visited Bokkos in Plateau State where more than fifty defenseless Christians were slaughtered by the graduates of this same Almajiri School, what he donated was two million naira; possibly for the fear of being branded anti-Fulani by his Fulani masters. What do we call this— the act of a man of political integrity and pious Christian Catholic?
All that Peter Obi is concerned with towards achieving his inordinate ambition of being the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is to please the Fulani sponsors of jihad, banditry and insurgency in Nigeria towards their ultimate mission of Islamizing the entire Nigeria. In all his political communions with these patrons of Miyetti Allah, Peter Obi has never for once raised serious concern over the on-going kidnapping and killing of Christians in Nigeria, outside his concerted chameleonic show of Judas Iscariot-style obedient servant mentality.
During his media conference in April 2024 at Abuja, Peter Obi insisted that the only solution to the current banditry and the killing of Christians in Nigeria is for Government Special intervention in Almagiri Schools. What an irony? What kind of intervention was he speaking about except to put more money in their training in AK-47 rifle marksmanship against Christians?
In December 2024, Peter Obi was invited to Atiku Abubakar’s American University of Nigeria to lecture Almagiris on civic education, hygiene and English language. Just few days ago, precisely Sunday 24 May, 2025, Peter Obi stood before the Northern Chapter of the National Political Consultative Group to openly advocate that the only solution to the current state of insecurity is investment in the North. The kind of “Eze Goes to School” story Peter Obi tells Obidient members drunken with his Hero political Beer at Onitsha Head Bridge.
There is no doubting the fact that the Southeast has totally been overwhelmed by Fulani jihadists with the connivance of Peter Obi and the five quisling Igbo State Governors who are tactically leasing their people’s lands to Fulani herders for the absurd RUGA project. As it stands today, none of the five Southeast State Governors operate from the position of strength in matters policy principles. Their primary interest is the retention of their seats and not the collective interests of the people who purportedly elected them.
Hundreds of people were slaughtered in Ebonyi and Enugu States with unrivalled impunity by Fulani herdsmen and bandits and, the Governors did nothing except to condemn in the most shameless cowardly manner. Fulani herdsmen and bandits continue to ravage the entire Southeast with reckless abandon with the Governors, Peter Obi and members of his spineless Obidient Movement doing nothing. Meanwhile Peter Obi at the same time is busy sponsoring the education of the same Fulani herdsmen and bandits in the act of kidnapping and killing of his people through Almajiri Schools.
As I am writing this report, a large chunk of the traditional farm land of the people of Umuapu and Obitti-Ohaji Autonomous Communities in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State, are being forcefully appropriated by the State Government and handed over to the invading Fulani herdsmen for RUGA sttlement. Those who dared to protest like Hon. Luke Chukwu of Umuapu-Ohaji and Mr Chinaza Ajukwara of Obitti-Ohaji are being threatened with instant assassination.
Even the so-called magic Governor of Abia State is not spared of this Fulani concoction of sell-out against the people of Abia State.
As I am again writing this report, the traditional ruler of Okahia Autonomous Community in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State, Eze Okey Ananaba is claiming that the State Governor has forcefully appropriated on behalf of Fulani herdsmen “over 5,000 plots of land in strategic border communities such as Mgboko Umuanunu—near the boundary with Akwa Ibom State—and Akpaa Mbato, which lies behind the National Institute for Nigerian Languages (NINLAN) in Ovom, Aba”, and hurriedly issued them certificate of occupancy without due process.
This is the current state of Fulani jihad project in Southeast and some ideologically blindfolded bigots miscalled Obidient Movement are busy opening their stinking sets of dentition to abuse and curse anybody that attempts to bring their political cult-leader Peter Obi to his senses. Why can’t Peter Obi with his populist magnetism address these precipitous insecurity situations in Southeast the way and manner he is addressing the Almajiri question in the North?
If everybody gets killed by these Fulani jihadists before 2027, who will vote for Peter in 2027, in case he eventually contests the Presidency? If this state of insecurity continues to increase in its present geometric intensity, will there be the enabling secured environment for credible and peaceful General elections in Nigeria by 2027?
These are the questions Peter Obi should be addressing and, not gallivanting from one Almajiri School in the North to another seeking unsolicited support from the same people murdering his own people. Unfortunately, this kind of challenge is absurd to Peter Obi because challenging such will present him in bad light before his Fulani sponsors as anti-Fulani.
There is therefore no doubt that Peter Obi is blinded by the false impression of people gathering around him or standing up for him whenever he appears in public. Let me put it right to Peter Obi that that political frenzy that greeted his emergence as a national political figure which was generated by the people’s desire for change against the Fulani oppressive regime of the cloned President Muhammadu Buhari has long departed from him.
Both the Ondo and Edo Governorship elections, including the earlier House of Assembly election in his home-State of Anambra are clear indications that those who around to either behold or greet Peter Obi are doing so as a matter of political fantasy. The gale of defections from his Labour Party is equally strong evidence that he is now like a commander without troops.
The truth of the matter is if people followed Peter Obi as a sign of rejection of the Fulani and Muslim cliques in 2023, is it not absurd that the same Peter Obi will be attempting to drag the same people back to the same Fulani in 2025? Does such intention define any sense of credibility and integrity on the person of Peter Obi?
Majority of Nigerians, especially Christians might look on with cowardly foolishness in the face of such outright demeaning act of Judas Iscariot on the part of Peter Obi, but there are still few who are determined to stand firm and committed in the on-going battle against Fulani Jihad. Are you one of such people?
