84 people, including women and children have been killed in a terrorist attack.

The development has cast a ombre mood in Mafa community in Yobe State’s Tarmuwa Local Government Area following the brutal attack that left dozens dead and many wounded.

The victims were laid to rest on Wednesday in a mass burial ceremony held in Babangida area of Yobe by the state government.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident. He said about 150 suspected Boko Haram stormed the village on different motorcycles to unleash chaos and destruction.

He added that the attackers were armed with rifles and rocket-propelled grenades.

“The attack led to widespread destruction, with shops and houses set ablaze, forcing nearly all villagers to flee to Babangida,” Abdulkarim said.

Despite the trauma, the police have assured that the residents have since returned to Mafa, and the situation is currently under control.
