Death toll increases after ISWAP attack in Adamawa

The death toll in Adamawa has increased by two following this week’s attacks on a Christian village in Adamawa, North of Nigeria. Some village sources said the Islamists gave a condition that the Christians in the villages must convert to Islam.
Locals recorded 14 deaths and four missing but on Friday, the number of the dead has increased to 16, local sourced told Irohinoodua.
On Friday, the Nigerian Human Rights Community, (NHRC) in a statement asked the Federal Government to protect communities and worship places now under Boko Haram/ISWAP attacks.
Three villages were attacked on Monday night in the Hong located in Adamawa state. There is a sizeable population of Christians in Adamawa State.
Boko Haram which is linked to Islamic State of West Africa Province, (ISWAP) has been fighting in the North East calling for the imposition of strict Islamic laws.
Thousands have died in the series of attacks which began in 2009.
In the Monday attack, Boko Haram focused on villages of Zah, Mubang Yadul, and Kijing forcing many locals to flee.
Many villagers fled for their safety.
Earlier, the terrorists had attacked Garaha and Mayo Ladde districts.
“We call on the Nigerian Federal Government to protect vulnerable communities. The violence of terrorists has intensified since the Presidents Donald Trump and Bola Tinubu led onslaught on violent extremists. The local and Federal authorities should expect revenge attacks. We greater protection of lives and properties in vulnerable communities,” Mr Taiwo Adeleke of the NHRC stated.
