Newsbreak: Terrorists abduct father, two children in fresh Kogi attack

Terrorists have again abducted a father and his two children in Odo-Ere, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The gory crime took late Wednesday night.

The incident, experts say may indicate the plot by terrorists to focus on nuclear kidnapping instead of mass adoption that usually draw global outrage.

In Yoruba areas of Kogi, social life and economic activities have greatly been affected by unending cases of kidnapping.

Some victims have either been killed or unaccounted for.

A woman in Ikoro told our correspondent that her husband was kidnapped in January this year and has never been found.

She said farming has been suspected by most households for fear of kicknapping undermining food security in the area.

A source who does not wish to be named told Irohinodua that the incident occurred around 8:30pm on Thursday at Isaba axis near Library Primary School.

The victims were identified as Baba Lara, his son Sunday, and his daughter Lara.

“They came quietly, no shots were fired. They just picked them and left,” a resident who spoke on condition of anonymity told Irohinodua.

This is the second time the same area has been targeted, residents said. “We are living in fear here.

This is the second time kidnappers have struck around this same spot,” another local resident said.

The abduction is also the second reported case in Yagba West within five days, following the August 2 attack in Oke-Ere.

As of press time, security authorities had not issued an official statement on the incident.
