Igboho warns against plot to remove Olubadan, says Oyo will boil

By Samuel Ogunsona

Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has warned that any move to remove the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, will plunge Oyo State into unrest.

Igboho issued the warning in a video that has gone viral, where he vowed to resist any attempt by the state government to dethrone the monarch.

According to him, any governor who attempts to remove Oba Ladoja will face fierce resistance that will start from his base in Soka, Ibadan.

“Any governor attempting to remove Oba Ladoja would face fierce resistance starting from his base in Soka, Ibadan,” Igboho said in the video, adding that such an action will trigger widespread unrest and a state of emergency in Oyo State.

Igboho’s outburst comes amid allegations that Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is plotting to issue a query to the Olubadan and push for his removal.

The allegation was initially shared by former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, who claimed that Governor Makinde was displeased over the Olubadan’s absence at a recent installation ceremony of high chiefs in Ibadan.

As of the time of filing this report, Governor Makinde has not officially reacted to the allegation.

Tension over the Olubadan stool has heightened in recent weeks following debates around chieftaincy matters and the Oyo State Council of Obas.
