A notorious bandit commander, Kachalla Sani Yellow, has been killed in Zamfara State.
Nigerian security operatives killed the terrorist during a coordinated operation led by hybrid security forces.
The operatives said it recorded a major blow to criminal networks operating across the North-West.
Nicknamed Sani Yellow he was widely accused of orchestrating attacks, kidnappings, cattle rustling and violence against communities in Anka, Bukkuyum, Maru and other parts of the state.
Security sources told PRNigeria that the operation was intelligence-driven. The commander was reportedly intercepted at a local market where he had gone to collect money from stolen livestock and discuss ransom payments.
A source said, “He was positively identified through local intelligence.
“Once his identity was confirmed, the hybrid forces moved swiftly and neutralised him before he could escape.”
The hybrid team is made up of local volunteers and reformed former insurgents from the North-East who now work with security agencies.
According to officials, they have increasingly relied on tips from residents to track bandit movements, ambush convoys and disrupt supply lines.
A video obtained by PRNigeria showed members of the group tying Sani Yellow’s body to a motorcycle and dragging it along a road as armed volunteers celebrated.
Security analysts described Sani Yellow as one of the most influential bandit leaders in Zamfara. He was also said to be related to the late Kachalla Yellow Danbokolo, who was killed in 2025 alongside more than 170 fighters in a major operation.
A senior defence intelligence source confirmed that agencies are monitoring the situation following the killing.
“The security architecture is already on alert.
“Necessary deployments have been made to protect vulnerable communities and respond promptly to any attempted reprisal.” sources revealed
