Newsbreak: Terrorists kidnap three staff of IITA Ibadan

Three workers of International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, IITA have been kidnapped.

Irohinoodua was informed that the workers were uabducted this weekend.

The abduction has already been confirmed by the Oyo State Police command.

The police claimed the abduction took place on Friday.

The three staff members of the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria were whisked away by the kidnappers.

The police have assured that efforts are being made to secure their release.

The institute focuses on crop quality and productivity.

It also works on reducing producer and consumer risks while generating wealth from agriculture.

The centre hopes to reduce hunger, malnutrition, and poverty.

The state Police Public Relation Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade said the victims were seized while inspecting crops on a farm within the premises of the institute

Ayanlade in a statement made available to Irohinoodua said, “The Oyo State Police command confirms a kidnapping incident involving three staff members of the who were abducted while inspecting crops on a farm within the institute’s premises.

The police said that “Upon receiving the report, the command immediately commenced intensive efforts to secure the safe rescue of the victims and apprehend the perpetrators. A manhunt has been launched, and operational efforts are ongoing to ensure the victims’ safe return and bring those responsible to justice.

The Oyo police assured the public that every necessary effort is being made to resolve the situation and urges anyone with credible information that could assist the ongoing operation to promptly report to the nearest police station or contact the Command through its established emergency.
