Coalition of Nigerian Artisan Associations, (CONAA) have pledge full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Vice President ahead 2027 Presidential elections.
The coalition which drew participants from across the countrt acknowledge the hardship in the country but said artisans are conscious of the fact that the current economic reforms will benefit Nigerians on the long run
Addressing the media in Lagos, the Director General of Coalition of Artisans Associations of Nigeria, (CONAA) Chief Segun Ajibulu said the coalition will embark on a nation wide tour beginning on October 24.
At the Press Conference organized on 2027 Elections: The Role of Artisans in Electoral Politics held in Lagos on Tuesday, the coalition said the 2027 Elections are very crucial to Nigerians and the whole world.
“As the largest democracy in Africa and being the host of the biggest single concentration of black people all over the world with over 200million people, the 2027 election is of significance not only to Africa but to the entire world.”
It noted that the government has also created access to loans for artisans across the country through banks and other financial institutions.
CONAA Support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kasim Shettima
CONAA is a very large and extensive network of artisans across the country. Associations of mechanics, carpenters, welders, aluminion workers, iron benders, bricklayers are all members of CONAA.
We hereby resolve to mobilise artisans all over the 36 states of the Federation for Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu and the Vice President, Kashim Shettima to emerge as the President and Vice President come 2027.
CONAA has created Zonal Coordinating Units in the six geo-political zones to ensure mass mobilization of artisans across the country.
This involves the production of 10million educational pamphlets, setting up of internet radio and social media campaigns across the country.
CONAA will start its nationwide tour on October 15 to educate, sensitise and mobilse artisans for President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima come 2027.
CONAA said “Our target is to secure no fewer than 15million modest votes for Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu and the Vice President Shettima.
We thank you for your time and we seek your support to achieve this historic goal.”
Chief Ajibulu was flanked by General Secretary, Nigerian Automobile Technicians Association, (NATA) Mr David Ajitumobi, Vice President Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, (AYDM) and Chairman South East Artisan Coalition, (SEACO) Mr Fred Ojinika.
CONAA said “There is no doubt that Nigeria is passing through many challenges. Some of these obstacles are historical. They have been there for many years.”
The group said while some of the challenges Nigeria contends with today have been with the country since independence, some are new while some have to do with the historical emergence of Nigeria as a country of many ethnic nationalities.
“We are confronted with the challenge of nationhood, of corruption, of terrorism, of lack of adequate housing, of poverty, lack of employment and most importantly of terrorism.
CONAA said since 1999, many social forces in the country have insisted that the solution to the menace is to decentralize power, politics and economy in Nigeria. This suggestion would not mean an end to the travails facing the country, but it would lead to a drastic reduction in the character and form of the challenges that confront us as a country.’
The coalition said
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Vice President Kashim Shettima set the ball rolling for Nigerian renaissance in May 2023.
“It is almost four years that they came to power. There is no doubt that there is no way they could resolve the contradictions within three or four years. We need to appreciate the depth of the problem.”
CONAA said “Today, there have been substantive progress. We now read more stories of the armed forces killing and disrupting terrorist network across the country. 199 terrorists were killed in Bornu State. The US described the operation as one of the most successful in US history since 9/11. The Bornu operation led to the killing of Abu –Bilal al-Minuki also known as Abu-Mainok during a joint air and land operation that focused on Metele in Bornu State.”
It said just last week, ISWAP commander, Abdussamad Ohida was eliminated in Ondo State.
“The progress made has assisted Nigerian Artisans to rekindle hope and trust in the Federal Government, an atmosphere needed for artisans’ businesses to thrive. There are other landmarks that cannot be denied which justify CONAA support for President Tinubu and the Vice President, Kashim Shettima.”
The group listed the following reasons for supporting Tinubu and Shettima:
“We support Tinubu-Shettima bold step to create the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, (NELFUND) which is the first in Nigeria since 1999 when the country returned to democracy.”
It said the pogramme has recorded 1.5m to 1.6m direct student beneficiaries as at mid-2026..
“Over N282billion loans have been given to needy students. Some 10million Nigerians have benefited from the scheme.
“The honest, genuine move towards state police is historic. It is significant. It has created the fundamental basis for a shift in Nigeria’s security architecture. This will greatly address the problem of insecurity that continues to undermine local and foreign investment in Nigeria. Nigeria is overripe for State Police. The UK has some 48 police units while in the United States, each of the 49 states out of 50 have state police. 23 of the 49 states refer to it as State Police while 15 refer to it as Highway Patrol, 7 as State Patrol and 3 as Highway State Patrol. We also have Alaska (Alaska State Troopers and Hawaii Department of Law Enforcement or Sheriff Division.”
CONAA said there has been substantial improvement in remittance by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC Ltd). For instance the NNPC remitted N19.5 trillion to the Federation Account in April 2025 and June 2026 whereas the remittance of NNPC to the Federation Account in 2022 was zero. This is in the face of the NNPC declaring skyrise profit of N2.52trillion in its 2022 Audited Financial Statement. This represented an increase to N674billion in 2021. This means that NNPC has transformed greatly into an institution that uplifts the economic profile of Nigeria. This, on the long run, will improve the economy and strengthen artisan economy in Nigeria.”
CONAA said it supports the Lagos-Calabar highway and the second part of the project which are Lagos-Sokoto and Calabar-Enugu highways. At completion, they will represent the largest road network ever built by any government since 1999.
“Nigerian foreign reserve has increased tremendously to over $55bilion. This is the highest in more than 18 years. This means a milestone in Nigerian foreign financial relations. There has been an increase of over $12.7billion in the last one year.”
