President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Wednesday return to Nigeria after a week-long trip to Europe and Saudi Arabia.
This ends days of speculations about the whereabouts of the Nigerian leader.
The Government of Tinubu will mark his one year Anniversary in May which makes it even more important for him to be seen in the country.
An official of the Presidency who does not wish to be named told Irohinoodua that the President’s trip abroad “was not a health emergency but routine.”
He said he was attending to official assignments and also “created a short time to rest” given his tough schedule at the home front.
During his trip, President Tinubu visited the Netherlands for discussions with Prime Minister Mark Rutte, followed by participation in the World Economic Forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
After the conclusion of the WEF, President Tinubu proceeded to an undisclosed European destination for a mission that has sparked speculation.
But the Presidency source said details of the President’s movement were well communicated to the right channels.
Concerns regarding President Tinubu’s whereabouts have been circulating, given his extended absence since his visit to Saudi Arabia for the World Economic Forum.
In a statement on his official X social media handle, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed President Tinubu’s imminent return.
He said “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accompanied by his aides, is set to return to Nigeria from Europe tomorrow.”
President Tinubu’s return is anticipated to quell concerns, sometimes driven by mischief, and provide clarity on his recent international engagements.
The President is expected to be recieved by top government officials today at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja.
