Zamfara Mosque Attack: Bandits kidnap 40 worshippers as peace deal collapse

By Samuel Ogunsona

Armed bandits have abducted at least 40 worshippers from a mosque in Gidan Turbe village, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, in a brazen attack that has thrown the community into chaos and despair.

The incident occurred during dawn prayers on Monday at approximately 5:30 a.m., when the gunmen stormed the mosque, surrounded the building, and forced the worshippers out at gunpoint.

The captives were reportedly taken into the nearby forests around the Gohori axis in Tsafe, an area notorious for bandit hideouts.

This attack comes barely 24 hours after reports of a peace deal between local leaders and armed groups in Katsina and neighboring states, which appears to have collapsed.
