Armed men have kidnapped a member of Amotekun corps in Igboho, the ancestral home of Yoruba Nation advocate Chief Sunday Adeyemo (alias Igboho).

The kidnappers were suspected to be armed herdsmen. The incidence took place on Wednesday, local sources told Irohinoodua.

“The armed men wore military uniforms, about five of them. They stormed Budo Alhaji village, Orelope Local Government Area of Oyo State. It was there that they kidnapped the Amotekun member” a member of Amotekun who does not wish to be named told Irohinoodua.

Another source said the victim, Rabiu Akeem, was actually kidnapped on Monday around 6pm. He was said to have been taken to a forest located on the Ighoho–Igbope–Igbeti road.

The victim was said to be one of the Amotekun officials deployed to the area to protect locals.

“He is a very loyal and dedicated officer. He was deployed to this area to protect the communities from armed groups,” Alhaji Kunle Olowu who live in the area told our reporter on phone.

The incidence has been reported to Ighoho Police Division.
sources said local police have stormed the forest in collaboration with hunters and vigilante to track the kidnappers.

Olowu said the area has been under siege for many years. “We are not safe here. It looks like the terrorists single out our community for attacks probably because the Yoruba Nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo is from here.”

Police sources said they were working all day and night to secure the release of the victim.
