New INEC Chairman not part of Tinubu’s Legal team, says SAN coordinator

By Samuel Ogunsona
A former coordinator of President Tinubu’s legal team Mr Babaunde Ogala, (SAN) has denied claims that the newly appointed Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN), was part of the legal team that defended President Tinubu-s election.
According Ogala, Prof. Amupitan SAN was never, at any point, a member of the Tinubu Presidential Legal Team.
He said reports been circulated were figments of imagination.
He said Prof Amupitan’s name did not appear among the over 123 legal practitioners who were formally engaged for that assignment, of which 60 were distinguished Senior Advocates of Nigeria.
Ogala challenged anyone with contrary information to “produce verifiable evidence to the contrary.”
He also encouraged the public to verify the information by applying for Certified True Copies of all legal processes filed on behalf of the President-Elect.
The ex-coordinator emphasized the importance of truth and decency in political discourse, saying, “Deliberately twisting facts to inflame public sentiment serves no one and only endangers our collective peace.”
He also reaffirmed his commitment to justice, fairness, and strengthening democratic institutions, stating, “Let truth, not mischief guide our national conversations.”
