Hundreds of Terrorists have invaded Eruku, a community in Ekiti local government of Kwara State
Eruku is some 25 kilometers from Itapaji in Ekiti where about 100 soldiers were posted to secure the agrarian communities.
“They came and shot worshippers. Many were killed. We are under siege. Many have fled to the bush,” one eyewitness told Irohinoodua
Eyewitnesses recall that the bandits had attempted to storm the community on Saturday, driving in trucks and firing sporadically along the Eruku-Egbe road. The attackers moved towards the Koro road, threatening residents and disrupting traffic. However, local hunters and community vigilantes swiftly mobilized, securing key routes and preventing the bandits from entering the town’s centre.
Their coordinated effort forced the attackers to retreat, restoring calm to the area. Unfortunately, the community is now in mourning, with local hunters still on the trail of the invaders. The incident has left residents in shock, and the community is grappling with the aftermath of the attack.
