Newsbreak: Terrorists kidnap Yoruba Oba in Kwara

The Ojibara of Bayagan, Alhaji Kamilu Salami, has been abducted by suspected terrorists in Kwara State.
The monarch was reportedly kidnapped at gunpoint around 9:30 am on Saturday at his farm in Bayagan, a community in the Ifelodun Local Government Area.
According to eyewitnesses, a group of bandits armed with AK-47 rifles stormed the farm, overpowered the monarch’s security detail, and whisked him away on a motorcycle.
A farmer from a neighboring village claimed to have witnessed the abduction while hiding in a nearby guinea corn farm. “We are living in fear. Nobody knows what will happen next.
The safety of our ruler and even the entire community is at stake,” a family source lamented.
As of the time of reporting, the kidnappers had not contacted the family or made any demands for ransom, heightening anxiety within the town.
The police are yet to confirm the details of the abduction, with the Police Public Relations Officer, Ejire Adeyemi, promising to investigate and provide updates.
The incident has sparked fresh concerns over the insecurity plaguing communities across Kwara State. This is not the first time the state has witnessed kidnappings, with two major incidents occurring in the Ekiti Local Government Area in the past two weeks, resulting in the abduction of 38 congregants and the killing of three persons.
