Terrorists attack Akure hospital, abduct health workers

Terrorists in the early hours of Saturday attacked a health centre in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

They had no respect for patients, nurses and doctors as the kidnapped the officials at gunpoint.
Irohinoodua was informed that Amotekun’s swift action led to the rescue of three health workers and two others earlier abducted by the terrorists.
Irohinoodua was informed that the terrorists who arrived in a bus had forcefully gained entry into the premises after which they abducted six health workers, including interns on night duty, around 2:00 a.m.
However, Amotekun operatives, responding to distress calls, launched a rescue operation which led to tge rescue of three of the six health workers and two other victims, including a 45-year-old man and his 15-year-old son, who were abducted at Pelebe.
According to eyewitnesses, the abductors had operated with precision and speed, leaving little room for resistance.
“They came in a bus and entered the hospital forcefully. Before anyone could react, they gathered all the staff on duty and took six of them away,” a witness said.
Amotekun Corps Commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed the rescue, stating that the victims were freed around 1:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. after heavy armed confrontations with the kidnappers.
The rescued health workers are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed health facility.
Adeleye assured residents that the safety of lives and property remains a top priority, urging the public to provide timely information to security agencies to enhance collective safety.
