Community sends SOS to Ekiti Governor, Oyebanji

Some armed Fulani terrorists have struck again. This time, they kidnapped a middle aged woman, named Hannah of Irele-Ekiti in Ajoni Local Government of Ekiti State. In the twilight of Tuesday, community leaders called on the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Abiodun Oyebanji to assist in rescuing the kidnapped young mother of two little children.

‘We are calling on the Ekiti State Government to come to our aid. Our lives are in danger. Governor Oyebanji should help us save this precious soul that was kidnapped this morning between Ogbe and Irele Ekiti. She is an indigene of Irele Ekiti. We plead with Governor Oyebanji to come to our aid,’ Chief Abejide Kehinde told Irohinoodua.

Hannah who is a teacher and graduate of a Polytechnic was kidnapped with three other indigenes of Ogbe in Kogi State. They were on their way travelling from Egbe to Ikole Ekiti when the armed men stopped their vehicle and subsequently kidnapped them. Some of the travellers were on motorcycles while the others were travelling in a car, local sources said.

Not too long ago, a member of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NCDC) was killed by suspected Fulani terrorists who were also linked to the murder of two traditional rulers of Ekiti origin.

‘The kidnappers are Fulani. We know them when we see them. They have been in a forest located between Kogi and Ekiti State. They have a strong presence in this forest. It is their strategic camp. When people are kidnapped in Ondo or Edo they bring them to this forest which stretches from Ekiti to Ifelodun area of Kwara and Egbe-Ikoro axis of Kogi state’, Micheal Aladejana, a community leader told Irohinoodua. Aladejana said hunters in Ogbe has launched a manhunt for the kidnappers who he was sceptical.

As at press time the kidnappers have not called relatives of their victim.
