School mates of Ekiti State Governor have bought the All Progressives Congress, (APC) nomination for the Ekiti State Governor, Abiodun Oyebanji.
The Alumni Association of Ekiti State University (EKSU), under the aegis of the EKSU Alumni Solidarity Group for BAO purchased the APC Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for Oyebanji ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State.
Representatives of the association visited the APC National Secretariat in Abuja on Monday to collect the forms.
The school mates reaffirming their commitment to supporting Oyebanji, an alumnus of the institution, in his re-election bid.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Engr. Dipo Bamisaiye, Immediate Past President of the alumni body and Director General of the Solidarity Group, said members were determined to back Oyebanji, whom they described as a worthy representative of the university.
“It is our mantra that one of us is better than none of us, and as such, we have associated ourselves keenly with the second term ambition of the incumbent Governor, who has neither foresaken nor disappointed us in the course of his first term in office,” Bamisaiye stated.
The alumni disclosed that they raised N75 million to fund the purchase of the forms, describing the move as the first phase of a broader fundraising effort to support Oyebanji’s campaign.
“EKSU may appear as not so big at inception, but now we are a great institution and this is even made possible by Governor Oyebanji who has not despised his little beginning as one of us. If he had done so much in the first instance, we are assured he will do even more in the second term,” Bamisaiye added.
The National Organising Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Suleiman Argungu, who received the delegation, commended the alumni for their gesture and praised Oyebanji’s performance in office.
“In my opinion, based on what I have heard from the people of Ekiti, the Governor has performed creditably well and deserves another term,” Argungu said.
Other members of the EKSU alumni delegation included former Global President Dr. Oludotun Adetunberu, current Vice President Mrs. Hellen Folasade Olaofe Olusegun, Chief Jide Awe, Comrade Segun Dipe, and Barrister Bayo Idowu.
Governor Oyebanji, who assumed office in 2022, is seeking a second term under the platform of the ruling APC.
