At least one person was shot on Thursday between Irele and Oke-Ako,all in Ajoni Area of Ekiti State.
At least not less than five people ended up in the net of the Fulani militia.
The shot victim was taken to Ikole General Hospital, family sources told Irohinoodua few hours after the incidence.
“About 15 people were kidnapped. Some managed to escape. One person was shot in his chest and currently at the Intensive Care Unit, (ICU) at the Ikole Government Hospital,”our correspondent was informed.
The route where the victims were seized has constantly witnessed kidnapping and kilings perpetrated by Fulani militia.
Two Ekiti traditional rulers were killed on the road two years ago
Few years ago, an official of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, [NSCDC] was killed by Fulani militia.
Chief Abejide Kehinde of Irele Ekiti told Irohinoodua that no fewer than 100 people have been kidnapped in the area in the past 10 years.
“One major problem is that there are no police stations in any of the six communities that make up Ekamarun. Those recruited to Amotekun work in the cities. It takes a long time before deployment comes. Though we have soldiers on the highway, events have proved that the area needs more of intelligence gathering than bringing soldiers whose primary duty is to fight external aggression,” Chief Akogun said.
