Tinubu names Mrs Adelabu new NECO Board Chairperson

By Samuel Ogunsona

President Bola Tinubu has named Professor Modupe Adelabu as chairperson of the Governing Board of the National Examinations Council, (NECO).

Mrs Adelabu was former Deputy Governor in Ekiti State.

The President described the new appointment as part of ongoing reforms to improve education.

The appointment was disclosed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, in a statement made available to Irohinoodua.

He said it is among recent decisions aimed at strengthening governance across major education agencies.

Adelabu is a former deputy governor of Ekiti State, serving from 2013 to 2014, and a retired professor of educational administration from Obafemi Awolowo University.

She also led the National Board for Technical Education between 2018 and 2021, where she was involved in policy and institutional supervision within Nigeria’s technical education space.

Her track record in academia and public service is expected to support NECO’s drive to improve the integrity, efficiency, and standards of national examinations.
