FG hands over Kings College to old boys

The Federal Government has finally handed over the historic Kings College to the Old Students Association in a landmark decision

In a letter made available to Irohinoodua and signed by the Director Overseeing Office of the Permanent Secretary,Dr Mrs Olatunji David stated that the Federal Government has given concession to the Kings College Old Boys Association to take over the historic school

the ministry instructed stakeholders to be notified that the college had been concessioned to KCOBA and directed that the transition process should commence immediately.

Furthermore, the ministry further directed that a transition committee constituted should oversee the process and ensure that the transition was completed within six months.

According to Olatunji, the ministry also stated that upon completion of the handover, the Federal Government would cease funding any activities of the college.

King’s College, Lagos is an old Federal Government-owned secondary school for boys in Lagos. It was established September 20, 1909.
Colonialist Henry Carr who was Acting Director of Education for the Lagos colony proposed the establishment of the school.
