Nigerians condemn video where Izala members ask for guns to kill Christians in Enugu, Jos

By Samuel Ogunsona

A horrible video clip by an extremist group is calling for AK-47 to be used to kill Christians.

The video captures members of Izala Muslim group calling for mass killing in Enugu, South East and in Jos, located in the Middle Belt.

The video has drawn widespread criticisms from Nigerians

An official of SouthWest Muslim Congress, (SWMC) described the video as appealing while many social media commentators ask the Federal Government to ban the sect.
“They are not just calling for killing if Muslims but they seek an end to humanity” Suleiman Oluwole told Irohinoodua on Monday.

Led by a two boys in their teens or early 20s, the youths led a crowd of younger faithful demanding for assault rifles to attack Christians.

The incidence was captured in Northern Nigeria where extremist groups continue to mushroom.

The boys led the crowd, all in Izala uniforms to sing thus: “I should be given an AK-47 so that I will go to Enugu and klll infldels (arna) on Sunday while they are praying. I should be given guns to go to Jos and klll more infldels—that is the Sunnah, that is the training.”

The members also demanded for weapons to kill Christians in Jos, a city that has been associated with religious violence.

The video has drawn widespread criticisms from local and international organisations.

“The terrorists are not just those who live in the bush and throw bombs. They are also young children being groomed. They are being raised in a culture that sees the killing if Christians as virture, as the key to paradise” Abiodun Adekunle, coordinator of Nigerians Human Rights Community, (NHRC) in Abuja said.

The community called on the Federal Government to identify and punish the young men adding that they represent a potent terror force that should be dismantled before they go to the field.
