Army, DSS operatives arrest Miyetti Allah President

By Saheed Olufemi, Abuja

A joint operation of the Army and the Directorate of State Security Services, (DSS) on Tuesday arrested the President Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Mallam Bello Bodejo.

He was arrested in his office in Abuja in the afternoon of Tuesday.

There were speculations that he was arrested in connection with the security operatives set up by the nomad group.

Miyetti Allah had set up a vigilante group of some 2000 youths in Nasarawa State.

Bodejo was arrested at the Miyetti Allah’s Office, Tundun Maliya Cattle Market located at Kilometre 22, Abuja-Keffi Expressway, Tundun-Wada.

The office is located at Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
A source in the police told Irohinoodua that the Bodejo was arrested for questioning

“I think his arrest has to do with the vigilante that he set up. The authorities want him to explain the reasons for the setting up of the vigilante. You cannot have a parallel security outfit with the police. It is not allowed by law” the source told our correspondent in Abuja.

But the Miyetti Allah Secretary General, Salleh Al Hassan said the arrest has nothing to do with the vigilante set up by his organisation.
He told The Punch “Yes, our National President has been arrested. It was soldiers of the Nigerian Army and DSS operatives who came here and took him away. But the DSS has always been here, and the soldiers are his friends. I think it’s the soldiers who invited him to make some clarifications, but when I get the details, I’ll inform you.

“However, I can categorically tell you that his arrest was not in connection with the creation of the Miyetti Allah vigilante group. We created the group for security purposes, and the police, DSS, and Army were all informed and they knew about it.

He said representatives.of the Nigerian Army and the DSS were present when Miyetti Allah launched the vigilante.

He said Miyetti Allah also informed the Commissioner of Police about the event.
