Newsbreak: Laughter Foundation Pastor Oso passes on in tragic end

The founder of Laughter Foundation Cathedral, Pastor Gbenga Oso is dead. The charismatic preacher who established the remarkable Church some 21 years ago died in the morning hours of Tuesday.

The family and thousands of members of the church located in Oregun area of Lagos are still in shock over the tragic news.

The Laughter Foundation is known for its commitment to meeting the needs of couples looking for the fruit of the womb. Over the years, the church has brough succor to thousands of couples, bringing an end to their grief.

Last Sunday, Pastor Oso preached on the salvation of the human soul dedicating the two-hour service to sharing of anointing oil with the congregation.

He gave the promise that the anointing oil for victory over challenges of life would be shared for the next Sundays. But on Tuesday, he gave up.

Irohinoodua was informed that Pastor Oso died in a private hospital having been taken to the Emergency Care Unit on oxygen on Tuesday.

Sources at the Church said his death was not unconnected with exhaustion.
One source said Pastor Oso has, three years ago fasted for one thousand days, equivalent of more than three years after which he started another three hundred days of fasting.

‘He never ate food for days and sometimes he would take only water. He was dehydrated and it was obvious that his energy had diminished in the past six months which was when he began to sit down all through the Church services,’ a member of the Church who does not wish to be named told Irohinoodua.

Some sources said he declined initial medical services offers, something himself had always cautioned his members not to ignore when needed.

Pastor Oso started the Laughter Foundation with his wife at Ibadan in 1997. He dedicated his life to the service of mankind and was known for his sense of duty, honesty, fairness and truth in the service of God.

Sources linked his death to heart and vascular issues

There were speculations that his wife of many years may take over the affairs of the Church. His wife is said to be an evangelist who some members of the Church said is also blessed with the grace of God.

The family is expected announce final burial rites this week. Irohinoodua stand with the family in this moment of grief.
