Newsbreak: Terrorists kidnap woman, child in Sunday Igboho’s community

By Ahmed Daramola

Terrorists have abducted a woman and her child at Igboho, the ancestral home of Mr Sunday Adeyemi, a prominent advocate of Yoruba self determination.

The terrorists struck in the late hours of Tuesday.

Irohinoodua was informed that the middle aged woman and her five-year old child were seized at gun point by terrorists numbering about five.

Sunday Igboho had recently established Iru-Ekun to counter terorrist upsurge.

Local sources claimed that the terrorists invaded Igbope of Igboho arear in the night shooting sporadically before making away with the woman and her child.

The source said the Yoruba woman is a house wife married to a popular Islamic clergy nicknamed Alkilis.

“The incidence has caused a lot of fear. We are worried. What the recent kidnapping has shown is that there is no deterrence. The terrorists who are Fulani are everywhere across Yorubaland. What they are doing was exactly what our forefathers said they did prior the 1804 Jihad when they launched a tirade of kidnapping before the Jihad proper,” Akintunde Oloruntoba, a youth leader in Igboho told Irohinoodua.

The General Secretary, Alliance for Yoruba Democratic Movement, [AYDM],a coalition of several Pan Yoruba groups, Mr Popoola Ajayi told our correspondent that his office was informed about the kidnap on Wednesday.

“Seems the incidence took place on Tuesday night. AYDM has a network that monitors insecurity in the old Western Region including Kwara and Kogi States. We got the information from our contacts in Oke Ogun on Tuesday night.”

He urged the police authorities to move in swiftly to avoid a situation where the victims would be moved further North.

Ajayi said thousands of people kidnapped by terrorists have remained unccounted for.

Some 46 teachers and pupils kidnapped in Oyo State by terrorists are yet to be rescued close to one month after the incidence.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government this week rescued no fewer that 300 kidnapped victims while some 3000 amunitions were seized..
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who inherited the problem of terrorism has promised to put an end into insecurity.

He has also taken the bold step aiming at State Police, the first of such move since 1999
