British boxer Anthony Joshua escaped being killed in a road crash that claimed two lives.
The fatal accident took place on the deadly Lagos-Ibadan Express way noted to have consumed many innocent human lives.
Nigeria has one of the worst road safety measures in the world.
Lagos-Ibadan highway is a riotous, deadly 130 stretch constructed in 1978 but repairs which started in 2013 has been marred in horrendous corruption.
Irohinoodua was informed that Joshua sustained minor injuries and has been taken to hospital.
Two others, however died in the crash. Both the State and Federal Governments have done nothiing to clear the very important highway that continues to consume human lives.
Police told Irohinoodua that Joshua was travelling in an SUV sitting at the back seat when the accident occured.
The police source said Joshua’s vehicle crashed into a stationary trailer packed on the highway.
The 36-year old is from Sagamu in Ogun State and he is noted to always come home during festive periods.
“He is in a stable condition and may be discharged before Wednesday” a police officer told Irohinoodua.
Joshua is expected to fight Tyson Fury soon but only if he gets his price.
His promoter Frank Warren had hinted about the fight.
While his fight with Fury has been fixed for 2026, no one is sure of the exact date.
