Terrorists abduct another Yoruba Oba, wife

Terorists have abducted another Yoruba traditional ruler and his wife in Kwara State.
The armed men stormed the palace of Oba Salman Aweda. They seized him and his wife from bed.
Sources told
Irohioodua that the Oba and his wife were half naked when they were seized at gun point by the invaders.
Our correspondent was informed that the terrorists were Fulani.
The attack took place after midnight on Saturday at Olayinka community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The Oba is one of those recently elevated by the Kwara State Government.
“They started firing at midnight for hours. There was panic everywhere. Locals made efforts to resist but they were overpowered. They went to the palace of the Oba and took him away. He and his wife were half naked. The terrorists took him and his wife. It was a huge embarrassment to our culture and tradition,” Nafiu Akinola, an indigene of the community told our correspondent.
He said the terrorists were heavily armed.
He also said apart from the Oba and his wife, another resident was abducted.
Police sources confirmed the incident.
The Olora of Ora, Oba Rilwan Yekini who confirmed the incident said the attack was an indication that terrorists have worsened the security situation in Kwara State.
He told Irohioodua “Just yesterday before dawn, kidnappers struck at Olayinka village and abducted the monarch and two others. Even Ora is no longer safe,” he said.
He further said “We have gallant vigilantes and soldiers. With the support of the President, within a week there will be significant progress,” he added.
He said earlier, Odo-Ore, another Yoruba community was attacked.
The Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government Area, Hadji Abdulrasheed Yusuf expressed worry over the incident saying he was working with the police to track the terorists and bring them to book.
He said “We are deeply concerned and are taking swift and decisive action in collaboration with security agencies.”
According to him “The operation is aimed at ensuring the safe rescue of the abducted monarch,” he added.
