47 sacks of military-grade uniforms recovered in Lagos.

Lagos police intercepted an unregistered truck carrying 47 sacks of military uniforms and 80 cartons of suspected hard drugs in Surulere. Three men were arrested. The truckload of 47 sacks of military camouflage and 80 cartons of suspected illicit drugs in the Surulere area, leading to multiple arrests.

The seized items were recovered by the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit on a Saturday night. During a press briefing at the command headquarters in Ikeja on Tuesday, Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani identified the arrested individuals as Chinedu David (29), Ezeagwu Chukwuma (38), and Ifeanyi Ogbeanyi (45).

Acting on credible intelligence, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Lagos State Police Command successfully arrested three men: Chinedu David, 29; Ezeagwu Chukwuma, 38; and Ifeanyi Ogbeanyi, 45. The bust uncovered an unregistered MAN diesel truck carrying 47 sacks of military camouflage and 80 cartons of suspected illegal drugs. According to the Commissioner of Police, early investigations suggest the suspects planned to illegally deliver the military gear to the South-East.

The consignment was being moved out of Lagos, prompting ongoing investigations into its origins, intended recipients, and the broader criminal networks involved.

The police commissioner stated that inquiries are actively underway to identify who owns, sent, and was supposed to receive the recovered contraband, as well as unearth any additional individuals connected to the shipment.

While discussing the seizure, the commissioner assured the public that there is no immediate danger to Lagos residents, as the truck was en route to another region. However, he acknowledged the broader national security concerns regarding criminals and bandits utilizing military uniforms. 

According to police sources, the truck driver and his assistant were initially apprehended. Investigators later tracked down two other individuals when they arrived at the Surulere police station to lay claim to the confiscated items. This seizure comes amid heightened national alarm over the widespread availability of military-grade gear among criminal syndicates across the country.
