Aregbesola says he left Osun Govt with no home to His name
The Africa Democratic Congress National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, says his eight years in office as Osun State governor did not add a single personal property to his name.
Speaking in a video that surfaced online over the weekend, the former governor and now National Secretary of the ADC framed it as a record no other state leader has matched.
“I’m the first governor in Nigeria to rule a state for eight years without owning a house of my own,” Aregbesola said.
He explained that he spent his entire two-term tenure from 2010 to 2018 living in a property belonging to a friend.
“I stayed in my friend’s house for eight years as a governor in my father’s land. Whoever says that what I’m saying is not true should come out and show me the house I own,” he added.
Aregbesola went on to lead the Ministry of Interior under former President Muhammadu Buhari after leaving Osun.
During his time as governor, his administration was known for reforms in education, healthcare, job creation, and community development programs.
The claim has since drawn reactions online, with supporters praising it as an example of selfless service and critics questioning how a sitting governor could have no personal residence.
