Terrorists abduct Oba in Ondo State, shoot wife

Terrorists have abducted another traditional ruler in Ondo State.
The armed men also shot the Olori.
This took place this weekend at Ode Oriya Village, located in Owo Local Council Area of Ondo State.
The Oba Adeniyi Adelana was abducted by terrorists who invade the palace of the 60-year-old traditional ruler.
Locals told Irohinoodua that the attackers invaded the palace arouns six 8:30 pm on Saturday.
“The Oba and his wife were in the royal court. The terrorists stormed the palace around 8:30am. They took the Oba away. They shot his wife. The manner he was taken away was humiliating. He was beaten and kicked. They attacked his head abd hit him with the butt of their weapons” a source in the village who does not wish to be names told Irohinoodua.
The source said the Olori was short right in the presence of the Oba, her husband and theiir children.
The police public relations officer in the state, Abayomi Jimoh, said the attackers were being trailed by the police while the shot wife has been taken to hospital for medical treatment.
Jimoh said “The Ondo State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, has launched a coordinated rescue operation following the abduction of a community leader by suspected kidnappers in Ode Oriya Village, Owo Local Government Area of the state.
The police image maker said “The Commissioner of Police has directed all tactical units, intelligence assets, and operational teams of the command to intensify efforts toward the swift rescue of the victim and the apprehension of those responsible for the criminal act.
He said the Command remains resolute in its commitment to ensuring that the victim is reunited safely with his family while all those involved face the full weight of the law.
“The Ondo State Police Command urges members of the public to remain calm and continue their lawful activities without fear. Residents are encouraged to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible and timely information that may aid ongoing operations.
“Any suspicious movements or activities should be promptly reported to the nearest police station or through established emergency channels.
“The Command reassures residents of its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property and reiterates its determination to rid the state of criminal elements.
The Ondo State police said efforts are being intensified across all fronts to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes, while ensuring the safety and security of all residents of Ondo State.
The latest incidence is the fourth time traditional rulers in Yorubaland would be subjected to such humiliation and even deaths.
Three prominent Yoruba Obas have already been killed by terrorists.
Terrorists had invaded the palace of Oba Segun Aremu-Cole, the Olukoro of Koro-Ekiti. The retired General was killed. His wife was also abducted. In
Ekiti State in January 2024, terrorists murdered two traditional rulers—the Onimojo of Imojo, Oba Olatunde Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba Babatunde Ogunsakin.
They were murdered while returning from a security meeting in Ajoni LCDA
