Terrorists storm Kebbi girls’ school kill VP, abduct students

In an attack similar to the April 2014 Chibok girls abduction, terrorists have abducted unspecified number of pupils from a girls’ secondary school in Kebbi, a State noted for her large Zuru, Christian population in the predominantly Muslim North.
Wasagu/Dankomaga is a Local Government Area in Kebbi Statej, Nigeria. Its headquarters is in the town of Ridah. It has a population of 309,750 with an area of 4,016 km2 and a population of 265,203 by 2006 census.
Unofficial sources put the number of abducted student at 25
As at press time, locals are left in shock and grief.
The armed bandits raided the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School in Maga, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.
Local sources told Irohinoodua that the Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Yakubu Makuku was killed. The invaders also abducted an undisclosed number of students.
According to information obtained by Irohinodua on Monday, the attackers invaded the school under the cover of night, unleashing terror and panic among the students.
The Vice Principal reportedly lost his life while trying to protect the students from harm. “It is a heartbreaking tragedy that has thrown the entire region into deep fear and mourning,” said Murjanatu Hassan Gishiri, a resident who confirmed the incident.
The exact number of students kidnapped is yet to be determined, as authorities have not released an official statement on the matter.
However, residents are calling on the government to take immediate action to rescue the abducted students and ensure the safety of schools and vulnerable communities in the region.
The community is still reeling from the shock of the attack, with many paying tribute to the slain Vice Principal, describing him as a devoted educator who dedicated his life to the welfare and education of children.
As prayers pour in for the repose of the deceased, residents are demanding urgent intervention from security agencies to prevent such attacks in the future.
