Newsbreak: Herdsmen strike again, kidnap poultry owner, two shot

The owner of a major poultry farm located between Kogi and Ekiti State, Mr Ajayi Bello has been kidnapped.

Local sources told Irohinoodua that the armed herdsmen came in military uniform and took the Poultry owner after shooting two workers.

The incidence took place on the highway between Ponyan in Kogi State and Irele, in Ekiti State.

A youth leader in the community told our correspondent on phone that the incidence took place on Monday morning shortly after sunrise.

“The herdsmen came in the morning. They were all armed with AK47. Two of them wore military uniforms. They shot two workers before whisking away the owner of the Poultry farm, ” Sulaiman Adekunle Agbana, a native of the area told our correspondent.

Kidnapping and rape have characterised the Ekiti-Kogi border. areas for the past half a decade prompting the Federal Government to send soldiers to some of the communities to ward off terrorist attacks.

The Akogun of Irele-Ekiti, Chief Abejide Kehinde said the communities need police stations and more soldiers to be able to deal with the emerging terrorist threats.

“The local and Government security are doing a lot. We the Government to sustain the tempo. We also need full participation of all the communities to safe the people from terrorism,” Chief Kehinde said

He argued that many communities are worried about the killings in Benue State adding that “the attacks on Benue is a message to all of us telling us what can happen to every community in Nigeria.”
