Ukraine unveils ‘Time Capsule’ Pavilion at COP30, vows to continue climate fight amid war

Ukraine has officially launched its National Pavilion at COP30 in Belém, Brazil, with a powerful message of resilience and determination to fight climate change despite ongoing Russian aggression.

The pavilion, titled “Time Capsule,” showcases Ukraine’s journey from destruction to green transformation, highlighting the country’s commitment to climate neutrality and sustainable development.

Minister of Economy,Oleksii Soboliev, Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine said the pavilion reflects the resilience of Ukraine “Yet even in these darkest times, Ukraine remains a reliable partner in global efforts to combat climate change.”

Speaking further h said, “We are on the path to climate neutrality and continue to fulfill all our international obligations.”

The pavilion features an exhibition that explores themes such as food security, wartime climate policy, biodiversity, energy independence, and green recovery. Visitors can witness the contrast between Ukraine’s pre-war nature and the landscapes affected by war, including the destroyed Serebriansky Forest and damaged fields.

Finland’s Minister for Foreign Trade and Development, Ville Tavio, expressed his country’s support for Ukraine, stating, “Finland stands with Ukraine, helping it remain resilient and rebuild its economy. We are assisting in assessing the damage caused by the war — and once those figures are determined, Russia must pay for the destruction.”

The Ukraine Pavilion also shows the country’s achievements in renewable energy and community-led projects.

The digital project “Winds of Freedom” allows visitors to explore Ukraine’s forests and the development of wind energy.

Throughout COP30, the Ukrainian delegation will engage in bilateral meetings and discussions focused on green recovery, climate resilience, and sustainable finance. Over 35 events will take place at the Ukraine Pavilion, featuring government officials, business leaders, and experts from international organizations.

Svitlana Sushko, Head of the Reform and Recovery Support Team at the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture, emphasized the pavilion’s significance, saying, “The Ukraine Pavilion at COP30 tells a story of choice, resilience, and renewal. We invite the world to witness how a nation rebuilding amid war is also reimagining the future of clean energy, sustainable development, and human responsibility.”

Russia and Ukraine has been fighting each other for three years.While Ukraine blames Russia, the later insists Ukraine joining NATO represents a threat to Russian security.
