Newsbreak:Iru-Ekun members now more than 80,000, says Igboho

Set for launch in Kwara State Thursday

Members of Iru-Ekun, the Yoruba resistance group has peaked at 80,000, the group’s founder Mr Sunday Adeyemo, alias Igboho has said.

The group is also set to launch its Kwara State Chapter on Thursday.

He said members of the group continue to mushroom across Yoruba territories and beyond.

Iru-Ekun was established after his return from abroad where he had gone in exile.

He said the mass association with the group demonstrated the spirit of patriotism, hardwork and trust associated with the group.

He said Iru-Ekun is committed to resist terrorism on Yoruba territories. Igboho also praised the South West Governors for their efforts in combating terrorism in the region.

In a statement made available to Irohinoodua on Monday, Igboho said Iru Ekun is set to continue to draw membership from across the South West States.

He said Iru Ekun is seiving its numerous members to ensure only credible people are enlisted.
He said “It is delightful to announce the impressive level of interest and enthusiasm demonstrated by our people in the Iru Ekun Security Network. We projected 50,000 personnel, but we have already registered over 80,000 in Yorubaland.”

According to him Iru-Ekun has been officially launched in Oyo and Osun.

“We have also perfected plans to launch it in Kwara State on Thursday. Critical stakeholders, including Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, are partnering with us in the state.”

Igboho said further “While we forge ahead lawfully in combating crimes, especially kidnapping and other terrorist acts capable of breaching the peace and safety of our rural communities, Nigerians should continue to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s initiative to collaborate with local communities to tackle insecurity.”

According to him, the Nigeria Police Force, the Ministry of Defence, the military, the Office of the National Security Adviser and the Department of State Services have created a new synergy committed to eliminating terrorism in Nigeria.

He said “Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, the Director-General of the DSS, Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and Commissioners of Police in the South-West, Kwara and Niger states have greatly supported our operations. Without their backing, the successes we have recorded would not have been possible,” he said.
